Managed to get a few hours to spend in workshop today, so done a new front panel , the original was ok but a bit too thin , so decided to up the gauge and mark out and start the arduous task of filing holes, so far I have achieved all the slots, holes and stick apertures, more to come on another day...

Another couple of hours spent happily enjoying myself in the workshop, I found I could also modify the trim pots taken from the Fleet XP FM series stick units and use them accordingly, but I'm one short :{, so if anyone has a spare trim pot from an XP/FM set let me know please..

So todays work shown below in pictures

Next update, this time we are nearing the painting of the case, back has now been fabricated, bent , and I modified the rear mounting hole and sunk it in a few millimetre with a punch and die, I have also added a modification with the addition of four holes to attach some rear feet ..

Once again with great help from Stuart for some more information , and along with the ever supportive Mike K , the rear cover has been finished and is now in primer along with main case....

I've decided to make it a four channel set as I haven't managed to find another Fleet trim pot to install the fifth channel, but slot is there for the provision at a later date.....

Happy New Year one and all,

Little update,

I've sprayed all the metalwork black now and lacquered as well, attached the feet onto the rear casing , then approached to do the same with the front case, stood the case onto the bench on top of a soft cloth, I caught the case with the cuff of my sleeve, it toppled over and landed on the bench but also caught the one and only trim pot on the bench, that chipped the hardened lacquer  , was a bit miffed.
Anyway, rubbed down again, rubbed a bit too hard and removed some black from the edge, hey ho :D 10 coats of black and 6 lacquers later, were back on schedule, just baking on for another day...some pictures of the state of play....

I've done exactly the same on the past on a repro tx case.. but I had fully fitted it out before damaging it.

There's a lot to be said for powder coating...

Cheers,

Shaun.
