Love the radios and planes.
I would love to find out who it was that coined the derogatory phrase "Man Cave" and give them a swift kick in the arse. I was told it was a woman, but whatever. What ever happened to the terms garage, shop, den, library, office, parlor, or spare bedroom that we all used to refer to out hobby areas?
Hi Jay,
Man Cave must get lost in translation travelling over the water.. It's certainly not a derogatory term in the UK. We British are proud of our Man Caves and the creations that eventually appear from the inner sanctums of creativity.
Now then, while we are on a lost in translation topic, I would like to know who started calling soldering - soddering in the USA... That grinds my gears on youtube videos and Car programs
Here's the wall of knowledge in my Man Cave for a bit of light reading in between gluing.
The MacGregor single channel set on the top left shelf of the bookcase belonged to Button Man, Dave Boddo.
Irony was, the button from button man's set was broken. Good job I had some original spares.
Cheers,
Shaun

Are you sure they're talking about the same thing that you think they're talking about??????

I was steering well clear of the UK interpretation.

Shaun, love your room with the bookshelf and radios on display, my wife does not appreciate vintage radios for some odd reason
Over here, it's all part of a concerted effort to demasculate men. In our Media, men are the butt of every joke, portrayed as stupid, ignorant and stereotyped. Guys are now sporting purses called "Man Bags". The lines between the sexes has been so blurred that the terms Man this and Man that have become popular to help re-define mens masculinity. The recent beard fad is a phenomena among the Hipster youth that has repeated itself over the decades and stems from men being under pressure socially to assert that they are masculine. It's little wonder that this is going on, as the Boy Scouts just decided to let the girls join. I'm glad I did not have to grow up in this new era. I'll stick with my garage, my wallet and my razor, I am not caving into the latest trends to be cool, I would rather just be myself.
