Mode Zero

I want to share this...as we cleaned up and sorted what dad's best friend left behind we found a box belonging to dad! Actually the reason is quite simple, as we as a family moved abroad in the early 60's dad left this box for safe keeping.
I found out despite dad taught me to fly reed in a "mode 2" in the early days he flew Rudder & Aileron on the right side and Elevator, throttle & trim on the left side.
…and yes the Orbit proportional from 65-66 had its stick replaced later on as the original were so extremely hard and unsensitive.
I would imagine the other pictures are self explanatory.
As we were going thru all the boxes and hide outs it came to my attention as many of us have the "collector and good to have sindrome" what is going to happen with our stuff when that day comes, will it just end up in a recycling bin or will it be properly taken care of?

The Phelps Pulser stick was a very agricultural unit but worked well. Valve circuitry for the pulser I seem to remember but might be wrong.

Actually, I hope much of it will end up with the grandkids eventually - several of them have already shown an interest and aptitude. Some of my engines should continue to appreciate slowly, so there could be a small inheritance there . I'd like to see anything the family don't want go to another "collector", Club auction, modelling mates, Junior's development program or similar BUT NOT the skip bin .

Plenty have helped me over the years, so I'd like to pay it forwards

the Orbit 7-14 has Rand joysticks. They were made by Rand who also made the Galloping Ghost actuators. Cannon, Ace, RS systems, and a few other companies used Rand sticks in their budget radios up until around 1969. Rand sold out to Ace at that time.

The original Phelps pulser was solid state, a huge improvement at the time. It used a Uni-junction transistor for the ramp generator. The early Futaba s/c is a nice find, they were pretty reliable.

Buy a bag of 4.7uF and 15uF caps if you plan to restore the Orbit multi reed as the Tx has a half dozen 15uf and a couple 1 uf, plus a 100uf , and each Bonner Transmite needs 2x 5uf tone filter caps.

Jay, can you remember what add on pulsers used valves, (tubes).
If you can't I'll have to look through mine.
