Has anyone ever come across or tried this method of control? Technically single channel rudder only

Fascinating and amusing read

Fascinating stuff. I've tried this many times - in my F/F days it was "D/T you XX!!XX" and then when I progressed to radio "Turn, turn you useless **£!**". Never worked!!

"Sonic". Wasn't he a hedgehog ?
Develop that to different tones for left/right etc and.... Hang on, hasn't that already been done ?
Not sure about the noise pollution potential though. I find that talking and bleeping transmitters get right up my nose.

I love these mad, early control methods... I remember seeing a system where you had a long string attached to one wingtip with a weight on. It deployed from a bobbin using a fuse dethermaliser and when it hit the ground it caused the model to circle down and not fly away. Great as long as you weren't under the weight when it came down to earth. Also saw another one that used a powerful light beam to trigger an actuator. Not sure how they got it to work in daylight though..
