I think that each has excellent features.
My encoder SEC-FJ1 has finished development for a while in April 2013,
but we are still adding or improving functionality.

Does "single-channel" have a strong following in Japan?
Around 1970 there we saw a few articles from Japan printed in English magazines,
I remember a Ki61 Hien which was CAR coupled aileron and rudder, a very
ambitious model which flew very well on single-channel. A brave pilot!

It is a "small image" because publisher permission can not be obtained.

There are also persistent fans of "single channel" in Japan.
People who enjoyed it long ago.
But there are problems to enjoy single channel in Japan.
· There is no vast place to let it fly safely
· Legal issues (in case of wireless or certification of equipment)
As far as I know, I think there are no regular meetings for single-channel (including multi) in Japan.
But in Kyoto "retro flight society" is held in spring and autumn.

I had one of the Kawasaki Hien's mentioned by Phil back in the day.
It flew well using Mini Mite / Mo actuators and was surprisingly well behaved. I eventually updated mine to 3 channel propo. The designer also did a superb single channel JU87 Stuka.
I was considering revisiting the Hien for my plans series in RCM&E but it would be a tall order building and finishing one in a month.. Some day possibly.

I flighted "Atlas Pony"アトラスポニー on a single channel.
The transmitter was FT - 5E.
However, it crashed with high power CB radio because it was 27 MC.

The coder Futaba transmitter shown was the one I always wanted as a teenager but couldn't afford to buy . I flew my Hein on a British Stavely coder set. Did the same job, not as elegant as the Futaba but did use a clever transmission system to reduce interference problems. It was really the final development of the single channel radio. I'm sure Phil will explain how it worked.

FT - 5E was second - hand goods.
We also used second handed "Pulse mate".
